Dear Journal, Originally this week I thought I was going to be going to a funeral but it turned out that I wasn't really allowed to go so we were going to go to Durham on the 19th because they are going to do the same thing that the did today on the 19th. Since I wasn't going to go to the funeral we went today and I registered for it last night. I figured it might give me some problems with registering so late, which it did, but nothing of serious concern though. We got to go play in one of the computer labs. We got to see and test out some of the software we use and I gave them a little treat by showing off my talent of crashing the entire lab. But don't worry. I only did that 3 times or so. Maybe 4 because as we were leaving someone yelled out "Dam it the things crashed again!" Oh well. Maybe in September they might be a little more prepared for me. We than got a tour of the residence. They were all very new and it was all key card access. I showed our Tour Guide how to gain access and disable her card from specific rooms. lol. Back to the drawing board on those things. I learned how to do that at Brock. So if I do stay in residence and I get a roomate I don't like, he's sleeping outside for all I care. Plus I wasn't to fond of the beds either. If my head is touching the head board the bed ended at about my knees and if I wanted to stretch I couldn't because at a regular position my feeet were flat foot against the wall. However they did come with a nice desk, TV jack, and Ethernet jack if for whatever reason I can't get the wireless connection in my room. I really picked up that they really kept up to date with everything there. They had all the newest in computer technology and I really enjoyed it there. The architecture was also really nice too. Another thing I liked was that the cafeteria, residence, and building where my classes would be are all connected so I would never really have to go outside. However the library was a bit of a walk, but it too was new and really seems like a nice relaxing place to study or just even read. After the morning presentation they had a bunch of prizes to give out. We won the prize for travelling the furthest. I got a backpack which we are going to use as a camera bag and a water bottle for answering a question right. What really surprised me though was that there wasn't a whole lof of people there from out of town. Actually not a whole lot of people at all. There were 8 different programs being talked about today and there was only about 2 or 3 people there for each program. And it was mostly locals that attended. There was a kid sitting behind me that pretty much just walked across the street with him and his family. There was a family from Lyndsay there and pretty much the rest were locals. That kind of shocked me because of how much of a great opportunity today was to learn the campus and residence and ask any questions you wanted too. Oh well. Anyway I think I have said enough about today. I might think of some more things to talk about when I get home from Bea's tonight. Bye. |
